Multi-response optimization of TIG dissimilar welding of AISI 1008 mild steel and AISI 316 stainless steel using grey-based Taguchi method

Abstract This article presents a reliable method of multi-performance characteristics optimization TIG dissimilar welding mild steel and stainless steel. Grey-integrated Taguchi approach was adopted for the process parameters such as current, voltage gas flow rate ultimate tensile strength, yield percentage elongation Vickers microhardness fusion zone. L 9 orthogonal array employed with three all at levels. The current most significant parameter weld joint. optimal setting joint obtained level 1 (110 A), (11 V) 3 (18 l min −1 ). corresponding response variables were 493.29 MPa, 395.38 31.35% 390.52 HV respectively. These values are found to be higher than initial settings. shows that grey-integrated is an effective in welded material.
